I would like to ask any of you guys driving an F30 has already changed the ATF? If yes, at what milaeage did you do the ATF change, which workshop did you go to and roughly how much it cost. I'm half thinking of doing it (my 320d is already hitting 110,000 km) although "touch-wood" gear shifts still smooth. Would welcome any feedback on this matter. Thanks in advance.

Was in the same predicament during my last F30 320d service at 75,000km...but in the end asked the mechanic to check the existing transmission ATF oil condition before making a change...oil sample seems in good condition, maintaining the light brown colour and no signs of any metal debris...decided to postpone and monitor again during the next service...ATF oil change would be in the range of RM1000k+ incl sleeve/filter...for BMW's u can do it at Autobahn sunway...for datsun R35 can do it in ATS sunway :D

Still no f30 actually done ATF change? I read on the www that our ZF8HP is a very different transmission than the old ZF trans and it requires special care and treatment. Need to firstly do a proper flush, then use the full ATF kit which will include the replacement of the filler plug, whole pan with integrated filter and all mounting bolts, etc. After that need to run the ISTA/D procedure to adjust and balance the new oil. The pump cycle on the ISTA/D programmer is important to cycle the transmission through every gear.

Given the above pretty extensive care required in the ATF replacement procedure, I'm trying to find out whether any of the workshops out there actually go through all these steps when doing the AFT change rather than just the simple drain and refill.

Hi ,

I had not replace the ATF oil before, now running 92k km..planning to do it at the 100k km mark.
Anyone had done this pls share any problem encounter, cost, and recommend a reliable workshop in klang valley.

Thanks in advance.
