I do tend to think on impact a certain level of force will trigger/activate the airbags. What the manufacturers have done is base on test & how their safety is deployed. Additional further autofoam "may or may not" trigger safety on impact. while car may still be in good shape, it doesn't mean passengers inside are protected as most accidents we're caught offguard & we cannot control how we react/sway inside car. the deployment of airbags upon impact may help to save lives or reduce injury to its passengers. Nevertheless, i did not surf around to look for studies or report though to link or disassociate autofoam.
