Dear All, I've been doing this with my past forced fed auto JDM cars. Due to the heat, I've eliminated the ATF Heat Exchanger in return for a large Hayden ATF cooler. The cars run better and the temp was significantly low with the help of an on board reader. Can we do this for our N52, M52 and M54 engines as well? Reason being to have more cooling efficiency and to eliminate contamination to the radiator if the ATF Heat Exchanger sprung a leak.. Thanks...

can show how you modify the ATF cooler, where you place the Cooler ? btw, what is the temp after you convert to a larger cooler ?

As I had mentioned, it was previously done on my 2 Subaru's. The ATF cooler was placed just before the front radiator where there is constant air flow. The cooler is about the average size of an A4 paper. The temp reading are noticably less by 10 to 15 degrees C on different types of driving condition.

Therefore, can the same be applied to our UDM?

The ATF Heat Exchanger has 1 in and 1 out.. Delete the exchanger and fit it with the Hayden cooler. Next is to seal the radiator holes for the ATF. Its better I guess as ATF wont get into the radiator and F up the engine cooling system when there is a leak..
