Just read through the whole thread. IMO the 110km/h speed limit should be maintained as it takes into account the worst case scenario. The most incompetent driver, the poorest tires, etc. are accounted for in the speedlimit. Not everyone is a good driver with good cars and big brakes. Hogging the right lane is just plain stupid. As others have said, the law dictates that the right lane is only for overtaking. If there are no cars in the middle lane and you continue to hog the right lane it just makes you as bad if not worse than the 'speeders' out there. Roadhogs either have an ego problem (can't give way to a bigger or faster car) or are self-righteous idiots. If I break the law by speeding, the police can stop me by all means. It is not up to self-righteous members of the public to attempt to enforce the law by breaking other laws. Don't justify your own issues of roadhogging with non-sensical arguments or justification. If there is a car coming up behind you at 180km/h, you are not 'protecting' anyone by hogging the lane. If the car behind cannot stop in time you risk causing an accident that may affect other motorists minding their own business. PS: Ecco, if you are in your Range Rover hogging the right lane with an empty middle lane expect a barrage of hi-beams, horns and the finger from a speeding Porsche Cayenne.
