Apple CarPlay and BMW

Looks like BMW will also be part of the Apple CarPlay system!

Does this mean end of life for iDrive? No wonder BMW was a little sceptical to adopt car play at first. Can't blame BMW as they have spent so much time and effort to develop iDrive to what it is now. Will car play replace iDrive? Maybe not. We still have android and window phone.

The CarPlay does not serve as an iDrive replacement.

Instead, it extends the existing iOS functionalities to BMW infotainment system.

The iOS 7.1 with CarPlay features is generally available starting today.

I'm really curious when the BMW will release the corresponding models or software update to support the CarPlay.
