Dear All,I bought a registered car from a local used car dealer (not authorised) about four years ago and wondering how to get a copy of the AP and import documents..the car was financed and went for puspakom inspection..i understand that normally the finance company would insist on having these documents before approval..now i have sold the car and the finance has been approved again but would like to hand over the import documents to the new owner.the dealer says that he cannot locate the file and in that case is it worth trying with the customs department?any input/advise is highly appreciated..regards

My car dealer told me that the original AP copy is retained by JPJ. Don't know whether it's true or not???? If it's true, u can request a photocopy from JPJ. I m given a photocopy of the AP & so does my finance co.

hi,

AP Document is needed when u sell or buy recond car only. for cbu, finance dont request any of those. thats why the new buyer loan can approved. if ur car is recond, finance will ask the AP document first n verify with pekema before processing the loan. mine also cbu & i also dont keep any of those.

Hi Im selling off my vehicle with "kenderaan import baru" status on the registration card and I dont have the copy of the AP. The finance from HLBB called me up asking for the copy. Told him I dont have it and he replied that I should have a copy of this..Where can I get this copy? Thanks

BMW9700, I have found a solution.. Whatever it is now copy of AP is a must when selling off the car. Therefore what I did was to employ a runner to dig out the files from JPJ and managed to get mine.. The problem is... u need to pay a hefty sum.

bro,

how long did it take the runner to get the copy of the AP and how much it cost?

Also, the runner attained it from JPJ and not Customs?

Thanks.

thanks for the info bro..does puspakom require this during inspection?

regards

Mine took like more than 2 weeks cost they could not located the AP.. In the end, they found it in JPJ Sarawak.. Damnn... The cost varies on the type of work needed to be done. For my case...its quite difficult as the car is now 6 yrs old. To dig out papers from 2002 is not an easy task.

Nah.. puspakom does not require this. JPJ does not require this too only the finance company will want to see this piece of photocopied paper.. Great system we have eh.. The registration card is just not sufficient enough..

i guess that's a hard lesson learnt. guys...remember, next time whenever u buy recond cars, pls do obtain the AP copy from the dealer (esp grey importer). u'll gonna need it when u sell the car (unless u intend to use it for donkey years).

i think PDRM also would requested to see the AP if the car is detained for some reason..then to get the car out could be a problem...always insist on the AP documents when buying a recond or CBU vehicle...I understand that Auto Bavaria also requires a copy before getting any service there..

regards

bro whether new or recond...u would be provided with a copy of the AP and other import papers...(can't recall accurately unless i go dig up the files...abt 5 different documents)...if u r buying used...u shuld get the dealer who sold to u the car to request it from the previous owner...only customs keeps the original copy...everybody else...photocopy versions:rolleyes:

no ap...you would not be able to sell the car:top:

go to the customs office and provide them with the engine/chassis numbers.
get a certified copy signed and stamped.
your're done.
a bit tedious and may take a few days but it should cost u nothing or only a few bucks.

sometimes it is also worthwhile to buy recond car from a long established and reputable RECOND car dealer....
