And if ur high pressure pump is malfunctioning, basically the whole engine will stall due to insufficient air-fuel mixture for the combustion to take place. So in the long run, i think is quite worthy to change ur high pressure pump. Having a friend of mine changed it 8months ago and until now everything worked perfectly. He even pump ron95......
Hey all, mine is a E60N53 2007, the only problem with N53 engine is that the high pressure pump of the direct fuel injection system will malfunction after 3 to 5 years times. So BMW did recall all N53 for checking and replaced the high pressure pump. When a high pressure pump is about to fail, you will be hearing a 'frog' sound from the engine when u r not accelerating, breaking or cruising at low speed. In the worst case, at low RPM, breaking or without accelerating (in a bad jam), the high pressure pump is in the ultra lean burn mode which only supply a small amount of air-fuel mixture to the combustion chamber in order to save fuel. And if ur high pressure pump is malfunctioning, basically the whole engine will stall due to insufficient air-fuel mixture for the combustion to take place. But no worries, every time the engine stalls, just wait for 10 second and restart ur engine and everything will be fine. Nobody will notice it just u and ur passengers. The only way to get rid of it is to change ur high pressure pump, is a tiny electric pump installed underneath the engine fuel intake valve on the right side front corner. Basically the high pressure pump will cost u 1000k and adding in labour work and all kind of flushing stuff it will cost u 1700k. So in the long run, i think is quite worthy to change ur high pressure pump. Having a friend of mine changed it 8months ago and until now everything worked perfectly. He even pump ron95...... So no worries N53 owners, ur car is save !!! Besides that, recently BMW recalled 5 and 6 series for checking and replacing some cableS, anyone have any idea wats all abt ? Could we bring recon car to AB???
