Anybody Installed This Gearknob Before?

I found this website from the old Thai site somewhere here and was wondering if anyone managed to install this gear knob?I wrote to him and got a same day reply!http://www.bmwoption.com/product/gn/ex_20.jpgM5 SMG Illuminated Gear Knob - 250USD/pc. (Genuine BMW Part) 0.03kg.Its USD 250 per knob! Wow! Worth getting it?

yes..i have it in my E39..bought in Bangkok from BMW option..its very easy to connect..just slice the existing wires and tapped onto it..it is very expensive though..only available for certain M model only..but it will fit M3 E46, M5 E39 and M6 i think..btw it is about RM900.00..

Does yours light up to show which particular gear you're in at any onetime?

it doesn't works that way..it shows which position you are at i.e R,N,D and/or '+' and '-'.

That's exactly what i meant when i described "light up".

My bad..i thought you meant 'light up' as in which gear the gearbox is currently in when you are in the steptronic mode. Anyway it lights up in all mode except in the manual/S mode when you push the gearknob to the left when you are upshifting or downshifting. I beleieve you can order this from bavaria auto but mind you i was told that it is very limited in stock. I bought the last piece when i was in Bangkok early this year. Apparently, it is very popular amongst the Singaporeans as a lot of them fly to Bangkok just to buy some of the 'M' stuff there.

i have it on my E90. Everything lights up...but i did it in S'pore. Not sure who can do in KL, go ask around..Exoticmods maybe?

Where u got that? How much?

it can fit all E46 and E39. I bought it in Bangkok or you can contact them as they speak reasonable English. The boss told me he can post it to Malaysia if so requires. It is about US250/++ or RM900/=. I will take a snapshot and post it later. The easiest way is to have your holiday in Bangkok and buys it at the same time. His shop is about 30 to 40 minutes from Bangkok central.

group buy is probably not possible..as i was told they have limited numbers of these gearknobs..best you try to call them rather than email..or visit them via airasia.
