Sifus and sifettes, drivers and gearheads... hello =)I've been lurking around the forums for more than a year, so I suppose this hello is a lil overdue.. It might also be a lil long but well.. I figure providing information might help with any questions I'll possibly have in the future. As the topic would suggest, I should start with myself.I'm 27, and I work in the creative industry. Currently using the Walkwagon GTI - 0-100 in forever. Was previously driving a Kelisa , until it got stolen. So, I figure that's as good an excuse as any to change cars.. I realize I'm in a BMW forum, but I thought the Kelisa was a decent little thing actually. decent power to weight ratio, go-kart like handling.. And the whole load of other practical factors. But well, since I need another car now, I figure I'll start looking for a real car ... not a go-kart on steroids. To Hades with practicality and all, that's what I was thinking when I originally got the Kelisa but since it got stolen I can only take it as a sign that I should indulge myself. 6 cylinders instead of the dinky 3... RWD..hmmmm....As a driver, I prefer acceleration over top-end, windy roads over long straights.. I recently discovered I really like how RWDs feel in a turn.. and I will be a manual driver till the day I need knee replacement surgery (i just feel a complete and total lack of confidence behind the wheel of an auto.. I also think it takes all the fun out of driving) Design wise, I'm a fan of 70s-90s cars. And well, how things look matter to me. Part of my job and all. I'm currently on the hunt for an E30 coupe; I think the e30 is a pretty damn timeless drool-worthy beauty. :top:Ideally, someday .. I would like an E30TU . While I like older designs, I kinda like the idea of putting a more updated heart in the e30. Nothing fancy, something with a twincam would keep me happy. I admit to a little bit of horsepower-per-litre kiasuism here.. and well, twincams feel a lil more responsive. So yes... Uhm, I think that's longer than it should be.. so , hello already ! =)

Yeah, welcome to the forum. ummm, e30 coupe, quite hard to find it lately. But I think a forumer here got an e30 with a "strong" heart in it for sale quite sometime ago, but don't know now.
Good luck on your search.

hello kheldar. E30's with their stock engines I doubt would satisfy your passion for acceleration, however they reward you as a driver in many other ways. you want spunk, look around for an E46 especially the 330i/ci; plus their prices have depreciated nicely to date. good luck.

re :

Hello people, thanks to all the well wishers =)

anakin : Ah, my apologies heh. It's a rather general description I use for people whose job is to uhm.. make stuff up. As in ideas, not lies hehe. Was being general because I switch between roles every now and then, but I suppose it'd be safe to cite advertising and television work as an example.

Strider : Yeah, it's become a hard find lately. Doesn't help that I'm uncomfortable with rust.. Sigh. Of course, any assistance with the hunt would be much appreciated :)

mizhan : Hahah.. I don't aim to make 0-100 in 4 seconds la, just looking for something with decent pull. And you gotta bear in mind this is a former Kelisa driver you're talking about hahah. Stock standard e30, i think the 325 would have enough go to keep me happy for awhile.. Wouldn't complain la. The idea of a transplant and other stuff just appeals because it's the idea of attempting to update a classic, mixing old and new and all that. But please do share your opinions on the pros to the old m20s. And as for the e46, hahah.. well, i unfortunately like mostly older cars. Looks and how they feel in a drive. From the little I've experienced, comparing older cars and and other more recent models I've driven... the newer cars feel a lil more... I don't know.. flexy ? fragile? Like not as stiff? It could just all be in my head.. or likely I've been driving all the wrong cars.

i have an e30 with an m20b25.. kept healthy, it is very pleasurable to drive; decent low end torque, and won't hesitate to pull all the way to the redline. if you appreciate older cars as well as the occasional spirited driving, look no further.

however if you wish for a more modern car with the most bang per buck at today's prices, an e46 with m54b25/30 should allow you to effortlessly cruise at 200kph in comfort and style. you'll smile when pushing each gear to 6500rpm. i know.. have one of those too
