Allo Allo...have been reading the forums for a couple of days now and think its time to intro myself as newbie...- i currently drive a satria neo... (think its time to upgrade)- Male, based in PJ- work as an IT consultant- found the bmw club thru google- promised to by a bimmer for myself before 30... now 28... think its about time...anyway... need some advice from the sifu's here....like i said... am thinkin of upgrading my ride... and i have been a long fan of the E46. thot as my first UDM... will go for a E46-318 2.0...Anyway... a friend of mine offer to sell his 318 2.0 M-Sport Jap spec 01/04 for about 100k. Only problem is that i don't know much bout bimmers and the car make a lot of funny noises after i test drive. noises are:1. engine noise quite loud2. when put in reverse gear but not moving... got squaeking noise3. suspension got some noises when hitting uneven road and bumps...apart from that... it seems good, and after driving it for a day.. i'm completely hooked on getting a UDM. even went to test drive the new accord but... can't compare. So.... my questions are:1. is the price ok? should i get something else for same price?2. is the model ok (318 2.0 M-Sport Jap spec 01/04)?3. the noise it makes... is it major or minor problems?4. the 'check engine' light is on all the time... why ah?5. coz its Jap specs... the radio tuner can only go up to 90.0 frequency... where and how much to replace?6. how much cost to upgrade to new facelift?7. where is the neearest mechanic u would recommend (in PJ)?sorry if too many questions but need to decide soon... would really appreciate advice from the sifu's out there...tq tq....

As other sifu's said . Take ur time..let it be few months, yet its a expensive investment . Dnt rush and will get into trouble of owning troublesome cars - more time spend at workshop rather than on road. Will clean ur dompet off. Search till u are tired and found the rite match .
If u test drive a car with so many problems can yet it make u hooked to it, imagine driving a better condition .

100k? add 5k-7k more you'll get the 2002 318i facelifted one. Take ur time dude. This is not cheap investment as the sifus said. Better spend a lot of time surveying than a lot of tears on repairing. Just my 2 cents opinion..

Welcome bro... time to change, it's good, if you need spare part for 318 2.0, I have it, I will be upgrade mine from 318 to 320... But... try to looking another bimmer... don't be rushing......

welcome aboard ! i tend to agree with the majority . dont rush - they are lots
of nice E46 out there . the check engine light can be any thing - from just a normal
reset to a kaput ECU . Not worth risk . take your time & i am sure the right one
will come along soon ...treat it as finding yourself a wife ...not a mistress ..LOL
