all alfa sifu, saw this at my regular workshop, wonder what modal is this.a beautiful car isn't it ??

thats an alfa montreal, a 1970s classic. it 's got 2.6 v8 engine. 0-100kmh 7.3sec with topspeed around 135mph. where is your workshop?

workshop is in kota kinabalu sabah.
another alfa is coming in a gtv2000 i think is 1972 model
will posts photos later

Pretty much a buyers market but it should be floating around the RM50k mark at the minimal. Did you know that it is based on the sale platform as my GTV2000? Like Zagato said, it's a great car with a detuned race engine. Buy it if it goes into the market.

I was in Kinabalu from 1974 till 1982, there are plenty of nice cars then and hope are in good hands to name a few:-
Jensen Interceptor, Shelby Cobra,Morgan 2+2, Marcos, Lotus super seven, Lotus Elan,Rolls Royce convertible Tun Mustaffa's, a few private Rolls owner, Ferrari ex CM's, MGA,MGTC,MGTF, MGBs, MG migets 1 ship back to KL and sold, 2 Spitfires running around and 1 is mine now in Seremban, Fiat 850 spider, Escort RS1.6 2 unit, Escort Sports, a few Cooper S, Voxhall Pickup vintage with wooden rims, Porsches Targa, 911, 914, I was even ever offered the Targa at only 15k, the Elan and Cooper S at 5k, Jaguar S type at RM500 but no money then to buy, 2 units Kit car replika of the 30s, Simca Bagera friends car bagg him to sell to me no chance, Singer Setelito, Hillmen Imps, 240z, 260z, BMW 3.0csi 15K then so cheap lah, Alfas few models then they import from Hong Kong 2nd hand cheap and a few more can'nt remember. was nice if I had enough money that time as I am and old car lover ever since.

There was a Jensen Interceptor and also an Isabelle (or Isabella?) in Sunway. WJ also know of one other Alfa Montreal which lies in the workshop permanently.

The Montreal in Sabah was formerly registered J XXXX S. Not sure about the digits, but it had a couple of 3s in it. It was also green/grey when I first saw it.

I'm not sure what engine it's using now, but know it had major engine work as it was lying unused in a workshop for ages. I think the mechanic said something about a cracked cylinder head and the difficulty in obtaining parts. He finally gave up trying to retain originality and either fabricated the part himself or swapped the engine just so the owner could have his car back.

The owner was actually trying to sell it on while it was in the workshop and I literally 'begged' my dad to buy it. Instead, he bought an MGB GT.

The same mechanic also had an early 'step - front' 1600 GT Junior in white.

An Interceptor? Now, that's a car. 6.3 litre V8. 0-60 in under 7 seconds. Top speed of 135+mph. Fuel consumption? If you need to ask, you can't afford to drive it! Ok, ok, about 10mpg (or 3.5km/l). Do you know if it still has its original engine?

The Isabella by Borgward. Very rare. I've only seen 1, a coupe, in Malaysia. Is the 1 in Sunway a coupe? Could be the same car if it is. Mind you, the 1 I saw was left to rot outside a shoplot.

went to check with workshop, the montreal has a jap 1jz in it now . but original engine with manual gearbox still intact at the workshop.

thats always a problem with rare Alfas...rare engine parts as well. I have seen my fair share of alfas sitting in numerous workshop for ages waiting for parts that never materialised. sigh.

Agree with WJ. If one is internet savvy & resourceful enough you still can obtain parts. Montreal is an exceptional case as the part is harder to obtain but still can be sourced out of UK, Germany & italy. The biggest problem is to find mechanical minded mechanic which is a rare breed nowadays. Everyone want easy way out. Plug in the damn diagnostic machine, & let the computer tell you what is wrong. Nobody wants to balance the carb or mechanical injection.
