Still don't understand the details but by default, DSC is activated every time we start the car and very potong steam when u want to throw the car around. It keeps shutting off the engine and u can't pedal out of a drift. DSC is the ultimate technology today for stability control.. but if u think its too potong steam, u can shut it off for some adrenalin rushed spirited drive. Press and hold the DTC button located under the central dash vent until u see an amber triangle illuminated on the meter cluster. That means the stability control are totally shut off! U receive no electronic driving aid when car lose control.. so be careful especially on the wet! If press the DTC button once, instead of hold, u will see DTC illumination on your OBC. As explained in the above write up, DTC is part of DSC or so called restricted DSC and to my understanding, its more suitable for driving on icy road surface. This is my personal interpretation, imagine a situation where car is moving up an icy slope. Front wheel may or may not spin due to the slippery surface and when gas pedal is depressed, it send our rear wheel spinning like crazy with front wheel spinning at a much slower speed. DSC will acknowledge the situation and try to rectify the spinning rear wheel by apply rear brake or cut engine power. I think u can never get your E90 up an icy slope with DSC on. This is where DTC is most useful because it allow some degree of slippage to the rear wheel to move the car up the icy slope gently compare to DSC that keep cutting engine power and apply rear brake to prevent rear wheel from spinning and u'll be stuck with no drive to the rear wheel.. I think.. never experience the situation here in KL.. :p The key word for DTC is "DTC is a version of DSC optimized for particular road conditions... like.. snow covered road.. it allows greater degree of slippage on the wheel.. " Another clip, non English but has Chinese interpretation with the same meaning as the above clip on describing DTC.. The following explains a lot better.. :p Ignore the first two.. hehe.. :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI94V0vFEv0&NR=1"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI94V0vFEv0&NR=1 Conclusion: when u see snow on the road, hit the DTC/DSC button once to activate DTC..
