Hi all, I'm a newbie here. Am a young guy who lives in KL and am a writer/photojournalist. I've always dreamed of owning a BMW (specifically an E36). Have been looking for one that's close enough to a stock unit, and manual--none of those E36s that have been transplanted with twin JZ-GTEs ;)I joined this forum to learn more about E36s and to get tips on things to look for in my E36 purchase. As I'm young I think that the E36 is the most affordable option within the next two years.Hope to learn lots and "tolong beri tunjuk ajar". Cheers.

Welcome..welcome..

Good luck in your search & am sure plenty of guys here can share their experiences with you.

Cheers :)

Thanks guys. Are E36s are still reliable (as they're old)? Do any of you have E36s and do you service it at Auto Bavaria?

Bro, take a look around and see just how many of them are running around, and you'll get your answer.

Of course, many won't be immaculate, then again, with many still driving around in the considerably older models like the E30, E34s, it's just a testament to the German build quality of Bimmers.

Btw, with regards to your second query, I doubt many will send the older rides to AB or etc since the repair costs will most likely be exorbitant. Look around the forums, and you'll see many OMs and club guests actually sharing their experiences with their trusted mechanics.

Some names like Blue Green, Albert, etc cannot be trusted by so many members here if they aren't doing well to gain their trust right?

Yes I believe in German build quality. Actually I meant to be more specific in my query. I meant to ask if there are many manual e36's around. I only asked about AB because i know they do very thorough checks on the car. Of course an outside mechanic could do so as well, and of course I will check the forums for suggestions on who to go to when I eventually get the car.

As I said before, tolong beri tunjuk ajar :)

Haha, alright bro. Well, valid point. Not many manual E36s around. You can probably contact Iceman13. He has a manual E36, and his looks simply superb. :top: Anyways, I'm sure you'll get a very good E36 eventually, and of course, have a whale of a time with it! :4:

welcome... it took 4 years for me to examine e36 before getting one. good luck in your hunting...

p/s: tell you what, e36 325i is a good germany breed besides 1jz. still can feel the G force

Welcome, bro...A few months back I was looking for a E36 too, but couldnt find one that was in a good condition, so I took a E46 instead. So far, no regrets. Now I am planning to let go of my E30.
