318 Engine Oil Indicator problem

Dear All Sifus, Each time I start the engine, the engine oil indicator will light up not immediately but say 5-10 sec later. That indicator will be there for about say 10-20 sec. and never appear again till I off and on the engine again. The light is amber color (not red). Can someone suggest what could be the problem and is it critical ?? Checked the oil level, and it is ok !!

which model ? E30, E36, E46 ?

It's E46 1.9 yr 2000

Mine won't need to wait for the indicator popup. But it still goes off after a few sec. So i believe its normal

try to check ur oil level, if oil level is normal. Thn u might need to send ur car for a check.

You might want to check your engine oil, how long since u change your engine oil, dont follow what AB recommended coz the climate in msia is diffrent from europe so we cant follow if not it will become sludge.
Try to change the engine oil and do a flush coz if the engine oil is too thick the sensor cant sence the engine oil.

its just the engine oil sensor wiring tht has most likely detoriated through the years and also the malaysian unforgiving heat.
send it to a workshop,jack the car up,get them to check the engine oil sensor wiring from end to end.i use to hav tht problem and tht was the diagnose given to me and they fixed it and till now its ok!
best to ask sifu's like jarance,kahar,teejay,zoggee etc.
