Seems that the 335i rear ended a slow moving bus travelling in the same direction, pushing the bus, and causing the bus to roll over as well. Initially I thought it was a head on collision. From our E90's experience and BMW perf driving school, the brakes on the E90 is best in its class, with amazingly short stopping distances with the stock 300mm 325i front brakes from ~70 - 0 km/h . The 335i vert although heavier, has bigger 346mm rotors in the front with bigger discs on the rear as well. With one of the best or the best ABS systems in its class and CBC and DSC, it wasn't sufficient to overcome the sudden realization of the speed differential between the moving bus in front and the moving car. With full brakes on from the moment of realization to impact the car would have shaved off a significant amount of momentum with the capability of the BMW brakes, ABS systems and 19's fresh looking tyres. However, sadly it wasn't still enough. I believe at the end the driver did not expect to see a slow moving bus going in the same direction, meaning he had no visibility before hand of the bus till it was too late. Approach speed would have been very very fast for this to happen. Based on information so far, there was no alcohol involved in this case, meaning that driver reflexes and attention was at peak at those high speeds. IN addition, our E9x are extremely safe cars. Crash tested at 64km/h frontal impact with hardly any injuries to passengers. Learning to us fellow E9x pilots. Its heartbreaking to read of the pain of surviving relatives, and I cannot imagine what the families of others who perished feel. Innocent lives equally precious gone, through no fault of theirs. Ok for this thread to close, but lets not forget what happened here, and all be wiser as a result.
