225/50/16 Tyres Anyone?

Anyone using 225/50/16? Where to buy? Any reasonable priced ones available? My tyre guy says its pretty rare and suggested 215/55/16 instead. I'd rather have the 225 if possible as my staggered set up recommended rears are 225s. I have tried 225/55/16 which is available but it causes a bit of rubbing... Any advice of leads?Sleme

Which model are you using ?


For the E46 - there was a discussion thread long time ago about tires for 16" wheels. Both 205/55/16 and 225/50/16 are factory sizes except that 225/50/16 are darn hard to come by.

225/55/16 are too big ... not recommended

I am using an e28. 205s are not an option due to the fact that the rear rims have a width of 8.5. The fronts are 7.5.

Looks like I may have to 'settle' for 215/55 ... damn...

sleme, 225X55X16 is the recommended size you should have on E28. I suspect your offset is not correct therefore causing the problem.

BTW what rims and ET are you using?

Beg to differ vincent... the optimum wheel set up for the e28 as subscribed by hartge and alpina at that time was a staggered set up consisting of 205/55/16 for the fronts and 225/50/16 for the rears....
224/55/16 worls for the e39 i think...

You are correct, assuming you have the staggerred wheel set lah. Otherwise the E28 m5 had 225/50x16 all round.

I've been using 225/50/16's for quite a while now. Check with more established tyre shops. I'm sure they can help. Recommendation is that you go to they tyre shop in Sunway - HupShun.

Guys I mentioned 225/55/60 because I pick that up from www.bmwe34.net wheels upgrade

i went looking too....you can get yokos fro rm280 or so in kg subang...225/50/16....the other places is rm400+....

but i settled for all round 215/55/16 for my e28 too...

fitted 225/55/16 for the rear but damn....the offset on my BBS was 14....so was a no no ...rubbing the rear....didnt roll....but i'm fine with them....


but would love to mount the mparallel onto my e28......wonder how will it look!

we should have a e28 gathering soon.....

so far we(3 of us) with e28 meet up every week!....mayb you want to join us sumtime!
