Can anyone guide how to remove the light grey plastic panel cover that goes over the 3rd brake light unit for the 2014 F34 GT ? Are they held in place with clips? How to remove it without causing any damage ? It needs to be removed to get to the 3rd brake light assembly.
I suspect the window tint guy didn't do a good job reinstalling the 3rd brake light thus causing it to rattle when driving over rough roads. Tapping on the black 3rd brake light cover makes that loose plasticky sound as well. I'm thinking of removing it and give it a layer of felt tape where it needs.

Normally its held in place by a few plastic clips. Sometimes the tint installer might have missed a clip or misaligned it. Same thin happened to my rearview mirror housing. Tint guy didnt clip it properly, so it became loose. Simple fix, pry it open with ur hands, realign n snap it back in.

Your fix could be as simple as that too.... all the best!

Hi gendong,

Thanks for the information. I've managed to unclip the plastic trim. It's held in place with 4 large clips. I sorta slightly damaged one of the clip mounting on the trim when trying to pull it off (the clip remained in the hole. Had to use a trim tool to pry the clip from the hole and slide it back on the trim piece). It can still clip in but I don't think it can survive another dismantle. Maybe it was already damaged earlier as I was really careful by using minimal force. Sigh...

Anyway, I've gained access to the 3rd brake light assembly. It turns out that it's properly installed but somehow it is still rattly when tapping on it. So I applied some 3M felt tape around it and reinstalled the plastic trim. The noise is now eliminated.
