Hi guys,Am posting this on behalf of my buddy. He has also posted this on Mudah. You can see the link here: http://www.mudah.my/BMW+E46+330i+M+sport-16263168.htm But I have asked him to let me post here (no, I don't get any commission from this, except satisfaction that a cool car has gone to a suitable owner :)) because I think a car like his deserves an owner who truly appreciates the car for what it is. I can guarantee the mileage is genuine, as I know this buddy of mine well and he has lots of other cars and bikes which he uses more often than this 330i. He's also a car nut, which basically means nothing but the best for his cars, and always well maintained.Anyone interested, can give him a call. In case you can't read the Mudah link, the ad goes as follows:Dear BMW Enthusiasts, I am selling my 330i sports sedan after a long love affair… Fully imported new (CBU) by BMW Malaysia. Made in Germany. Manufactured 2004, I bought in 2005 1st owner BMW Malaysia, I’m the 2nd owner SPECS: 2979cc; 231bhp; 300NM torque; M-sport multifunction steering; wide screen LCD TV in center console with on-board computer; Harmon Kardon sound system with CD changer for 6 in boot; 17” rim front 225/45 and rear 245/40; Rear Blind; Electric Retractable Side Mirror; PDC (Park Distance Control); Auto Rain Sensing wiper; Xenon headlights and sports exhaust. Genuinely very low mileage, hardly used (55,527km). Usually ride my bikes. Tyres all Michelin Pilot Sport 2 and 3(Just changed the front pair RM1360; Rear previously RM1600) Varta Ultra Dynamic high capacity battery (made in Europe) New front brake discs and pads (all original BMW) Also changed over the years = bushing, engine mount, gaskets, alternator, ignition coils (Bosch), all wheel bearings and Bosch ‘boneless’ wipers. Full service record by Auto Bavaria Glenmarie and Mspeed at USJ (All receipts available) 100% NO Accident. Powerful sedan, enough power and torque to overtake most cars, can fit a small family and go up Genting Highlands or any mountain resorts with ease. Buy and drive. Reason to sell = changing to 7/8 seater MPV as 3rd child born. Elegant, powerful and timeless design. Selling price: RM118,000 (negotiable) Serious buyers only, will sell to best offer. Please call for more info (mobile:012 302 9574). Sorry I will not respond to any SMS. Thank you for viewing

Hi, saw it in mudah earlier but...seriously...are the mileage genuine? I be much more comfortable if fellow forummer can vouch for it. No offense, just very curious of how he could deal with driving the car for 8 years and done only 55k, plus it's previously own by BMW Malaysia which I think would have put some miles on it. I am seriously considering it as I'd been looking around...and this 'look' like the best untouch 330i around....but the premium makes it very close to M3 price. Either way, will give owner a call soon. Thanks Alxy, much appreciated. Cheers.

Thank you.

Hi guys, I'm the owner of this BMW 330i and I'm sorry for not being active in this forum, therefore I could not post an Ad here. (Needs minimum 25 postings). So my old friend is helping me out to post here. Thanks Lee!!! :top:

Anyway, I just want to say the mileage is 110% genuine. When I bought over from BMW Malaysia, it was around 1 year and 3 months old and mileage was about 14,000km. My cars pile up average of 7,000km a year. My office is only 10 mins away. I currently own a few cars and 2 bikes and each vehicle share the distance My wife and I travel each month. (Wife is a homemaker btw).

As for M3 and this car comparison: you would maintain an M3 like a racecar as S54 engine is custom made (higher parts prices) whereas 330i uses conventional production engine you'd see in E39s and early E60s and other models' 3litre engine. Also other parts like the brakes, discs, SMG gearbox etc. would cost you more. You'd need to keep M3 on high revs to make it go whereas 330i has lazier torque which is more suitable in the real world (which means on normal roads, and twisty ones, you might not see much difference in both cars). Engine size wise, M3 has 200 more CC, (3000cc vs 3200) and the difference in road tax is RM1000 extra. Lastly, there's a history of 2001/2002 year M3s having engine seizures. So if I really want an M3, I would take year 2004 onwards.

Thanks for viewing and have a good day. :top:

Like I said, I can personally guarantee mileage is genuine. Without revealing too much on his personal stuff, all I can say is, if you saw the bikes and cars he has (and has had), you would totally believe why his mileage can go so low :)

Lastly, this car has been serviced at MSpeed, so if you know Ah Meng, you can have a chat with him on car history and I guess Ah Meng can also vouch for the low mileage.

But I would also like to add that, as with any purchase, always form your own opinions after checking out the car properly. Don't believe what we say just like that, go and have a look for yourself. Buy only if you are 100% satisfied. Happy hunting!

Thanks Lee! (again..)

I would honestly say this car will have a longer lasting relationship with the owner compared to an M3. It has adequate power (quite effortless when overtaking while cruising at around 60-80kph on a relatively crowded highway as you'll just have to step the gas pedal a bit deeper, even in top gear, it'll pull strongly from 2,000rpm and by the time it hit 3,500rpm, overtaking is done) , comfort for 4 persons and relatively easy on the wallet. Let's face it, nobody wants to spend a whole load of cash maintaining an old car, and worse is car has to be in workshop every other month. Seriously 'potong stim'...

Thank you for viewing..

I had the pleasure of owning one for a couple of years...still one of the best rides for daily driving

@ Boonster, hey man.. how did you guess? :thefinger:

@ Safri, yeah, it is.. people would think 3l engine has poor fuel economy. It's actually quite the opposite. I would cruise on highway at 110kph @ 2200rpm-2500rpm and combined with city drive, and return 12km/L. Powerful car couple with relatively lightweight (this car with almost full spec, weighs 1520kg; bear in mind a hatchback like Golf GTI weighs 1400kg), will not stress the engine to achieve reasonable speed.

Thank you for viewing.

Hi Guys,

I have reduced the price from RM118,000 (negotiable) to RM95,000 (negotiable) as I've done in Muday.my today.

Please let me know if anyone interested to have this fine machine in their garage.

Thanks!

Hi SH,

I am very interested as I've always loved the sleek looks and the raw torque E46. However, I have never owned a BMW before (only ever owned JDMs), so would you mind if I ask you some questions especially on the maintenance schedules, places to service as well as the running costs for this fine machine?

I have heard that the running costs of older BMWs would be astronomical especially if critical parts of the automobile require extensive servicing (ie, the gearbox). So I'd like to know more before I buy - otherwise may as well fork out the extra for a new BMW. :)

Hi DJJD,

With Euro down and Japanese Yen up, parts prices of european cars and Japanese cars should be almost the same (of the same category, as u cannot compare a toyota Vios to a BMW). Though I would say European cars are more delicate as they were not designed to 'tahan' our hot and humid weather. I just changed my front brake discs for RM360 each side. Is that more expensive than a Japanese car?

I do annual service to my car (due to less than 10,000km a year mileage), it uses 8 litres of oil and RM60 of oil filter.

If u have a good mechanic (as I have), he will know what are the parts that need replacing after a certain years/mileage and u will do a lot of preventive maintenance (i.e. change before the parts fail) then the failure will not cause other parts to fail as well hence less parts to be replaced.

Firstly, for regular BMWs like 3 and 5 series, parts like gearbox from 'chop-shop' should be plentiful (gearbox can also be serviced), and secondly logic dictates that if running an old BMW is 'astronomical' like u said, why do I see so many on the road? We are not talking about niche BMWs like M3, M5, M6, classic 635i, 840i 850i, Z8 etc...

Choosing a car is to personal preference. For me, you own a BMW because you love to drive. It really is that good.

Hope it helps.

your car is brilliant bro. perfect i must say. these days almost impossible to find a good condition e46, mostly from 2nd hand dealers with no history and fake mileage.

best engine(3.0) and best year(2004) best mileage(55k in 8 yrs!)

Hi phas3r, thank you for your comment. I planned to keep the car longer if my wife has not told me to change to MPV (needs a 6-7 seater now to accommodate a baby, 2 kids and a maid in the car.) Seriously looking at the VW Sharan now.

For those who are looking for BMW this is the perfect unit, as bank still offer loan up to 6 years with max RM70,000 @ 3.6% means your downpayment is just RM36,000 which is easily from selling your pre loved.

Go grab the ride before other sweep it away!

Free bump for a wonderful E46 330

I reckon a 2004 unit still can loan up to 90% & 7 years tops, based on documents though (based on few of my contacts in the banking industry). Free bump for a nice ride! :)

P/S: Would have gotten the unit if was posted when I was hunting for mine. A very very good price for the conditions & mileage. :D

Dear all enthusiasts,

The car has been sold. Inspection by Wearnes BMW Segambut done, puspakom done. Buyer paid the full and final settlement and car delivered.

Millions of thanks to the guys who gave their well wishes in this post, it's been a pleasure.. and also thank you Lee for helping me start this thread.
