1994 E36 325i - Rattling engine sound

Hi.I'm new to this forum and new to the E36. First of all - I love this car.Now the issue.When I start up the engine and stand by the car, I can hear like a dull rattling sound from under the engine - or somewhere there. Best description is when you put some heavy dice in a thick cup and roll it around. Its not severe - just irritating.What is that?? Where is it coming from, why and how do I fix it?Many thanks guys.

A long shot, but maybe the chain tensioner is faulty.

Hey guys - its a pretty even, continuous rattling. Nothing overly loud or indication of bad mechanical fault. I figured something might be "loose" over the years.

Has any of you out there ever fixed this problem successfully? Do post if a definite fix has been found
