Hi I m new to bmwclub n would like to seek opinions n feedback on my problems. Just took possession of my '05 2.5 jap spec sport package (I think cos suspension low n hard) z4. After the euphoria of its red leather seats n sexy black curves, I am now feeling quite annoyed with its bumpiness. My u know what is starting to hurt. N it's only my third day!Currently, it wears 225/40/18 fronts n 255/35/18 rears, all inflated to 33 psi. What do u guys think if I changed to 245/40/18 for the rear? Anybody tried this size before? Does it clear the fenders? Or I understand that going 17" would be a better solution to achieve a comfortable ride but 18" lag cantik mah. Beside the car came from Nipponland with some nice aftermarket rims which I would like to keep.Appreciate apa-apa opinions also.

..when i use to get mine , it was with 16' rims and it was VERY soft and comfy ride...of course , since BMW by default, installing ugliest rims you could imagine, I changed in to 17'' and now is more comfy ride, even still, not that soft as it was before...right now im thinking to go up to 19'' to make bigger ground clearance, but im not sure due fact that every single road imperfection will mock up my kidneys :) .. so i guess its a trade of..sort of..basically, more rubber-air you have..more soft ride..

.. and every extra comfort you get, is a trade off for handling, the 2 of them is inverse in relationship, u can't get the best of both world.

Looks like u hv the same Phd man. How la? Wat u think bout my case. If I go 245 40 18 will hv rubbing fender issue? I know it will only improve overall ride a little fr 255 35 18. But I wanna hv a reason to keep my Z.

Sorry I m new to using forum. That rubbing fender question was supposed to be for Astroboy. Tks.

The original z4m is running on styke 224 rims, 8"x18" ET42 (Front), 9"x18" ET30 (Rear), in 225/40R18, 255/35R18, on standard ride height with correct camber, there will not be rubbing.

From 255/35 to 245/40, overall diameter increases by 17mm for the rear, your front lip will dip lower due to the lift at the back.. :4:

PHP:
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/km Difference
255/35-18 89mm 318mm 636mm 1997mm 501 0.0%
245/40-18 98mm 327mm 653mm 2052mm 487 2.8%

Rubbing issue is the least concern because your DSC may not work due to inconsistent tyre size.

I'm a "purist", I don't recommend anything not standard.. :4:

Tks for d info. Anticipated d lift problem but must say I would have overlooked d DSC concern. Anyway I m putiing mine up for sale. Asking 159k. That is what I paid two weeks ago. With all due respect bro, kindly proceed to Newbie section for a self intro as per forum rules. Also please take note that a minimum of 25 posting must be made before any selling can be done in the forum.

Cheers.

..as dzulijazz said..its rather indicative that someone whos just about after few posts (6 up to now) , sharing info about ride selling..go to Mudah.my and advertise there bro, it will do more good for you than here because 99% folks here actually OWN BMW's...

You serious you wanna let go your ride after taken possession for 2 weeks just because your ride is not comfy? I dont think that is the right way to look at your UDM. I'm also running 225/40/18 front and rear. I take the opportunity cost to enjoy good control and handling minus off the comfort and bumpiness. If you want comfort, then you have to forgo the nice rims you have and go for 16" stock standard.

Hi all,
My sincere apologies to u guys if i violated any explicit or informal club rules. Would just like to clarify a few things after which i will excuse myself from this forum/club.
1) I m quite an old guy without much knowledge abt computers or "forums".
2) No b.s. I bought d car 2 weeks ago. Paperwork to show n teh tarik on me.
3) Just cos i find it bumpy does not mean i do not like bmws. I hv owned e34 n e46s in d past.
4) I hv also advertised in mudah.com. Reason i mentioned it here is cos i there would be enthusiasts interested to buy my car, which i happen to think is in excellent condition. What's wrong if all parties mutually benefit?
........so, again to those offended, my apologies. To ecco, tks for being d first to reply. To astroboy, tks for d tyre infos. N finally, to d only one who has my number (u know who u r), u can call me anytime. Perhaps we can yamcha. Tks to all again. Happy motoring.

Hi
Forgot to say this.
Some people own nice cars n they get carried away, thinking they r greater than others. They dont realize that others can treat the same car as a cup of kopi. Not nice just get another cup. Be humble la.

ayoyo... just two weeks and wanna let go..... no wonder AB was racunning me the other day....

intends to own one but not yet for now.... hhhmmm....

Did I hear teh tarik?! and did I hear someone reminding me of my age?! :4:

You are not only old, you are rich too!! :64: .. to be able to buy a near RM200k 2nd hand car before test driving the car and decided to sell it after 2 weeks.. :4:

Relax unker, if you are around and available on Friday late evening, please bring the Z to our Paparich Teh Tarik gathering in PJ Sec19. Don't forget to bring your IC so that we can compare our age.. :4:

TT is where real people meet, in the forum, we often socialize by insulting each other but we don't mean it.. unlike the ladies, they compliment each other and they too don't mean it.. :4:

Chill people!
